Keywords:

It is well known that three-dimensional models, commonly called architectural models, are demonstrative elements used in the professional work and in the academic field of the schools of architecture. In most cases, these models are presented at the end of the design process, almost as a check of what has been previously defined by drawing. In this brief paper, we will try to show that models are learning tools themselves (they can be means, rather than goals) that allow the students a clearer and more direct approach to the architecture prefiguration world. This teaching practice gathers experiences held in different universities in Spain and Colombia, especially in the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Medellín Headquarters, and the Emergency Housing Workshop of the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana.
