The CUJAE, a Landmark of Modern Cuban Architecture

This research raised the question of whether the CUJAE is worthy of the status of National Monument of the Republic of Cuba, and had the objective of identifying its values, as part of modern Cuban architecture. By applying the logical- historical method, the starting point was a documentary analysis, supported by field work, and consultation of the provisions of current legislation. As a result, the history of the property is reconstructed, and its values are substantiated, defining the degree of authenticity and integrity in the preservation of the attributes that characterize it. The above is complemented by a comparative analysis with similar works, and recommendations for its management. The results show that the CUJAE is an emblematic work of Cuban architecture of the second half of the 20th century and it is concluded that it deserves the status of National Monument.
