Analysis of Natural Ventilation in Typical Social Housing in Colombia
Keywords:

In the metropolitan area of the city of Medellín, natural ventilation is not considered as a parameter in the design of social housing (VIS). This problem is aggravated by the indiscriminate replication of the same housing model without taking into account its location. This research performs a sensitivity analysis that examines natural ventilation conditions by evaluating the different orientations and heights in one of the most common VIS designs in various sectors of the metropolitan area. Ventilation data were classified into speed and direction ranges using records obtained at several meteorological stations. The behavior of wind in indoor spaces was subsequently analyzed through computational simulations using the Butterfly plugin of the GrassHopper platform. The results show that the analyzed model does not meet more than 40% desirability in any of the cases studied, and that all are in unfavorable conditions.
