LA PRODUCCIÓN CAFETALERA EN SANTIAGO DE CUBA. PAISAJE CULTURAL Y EXPRESIÓN TIPOLÓGICA
Abstract
El paisaje arqueológico de las primeras plantaciones del café del sudeste de Cuba, es el segundo que tiene el país en la categoría de los paisajes culturales reconocidos en la lista del Patrimonio Mundial. Los restos de este sistema
de plantación representan los trabajos combinados del hombre y la naturaleza, además de poseer valores excepcionales por constituir un exponente auténtico del quehacer constructivo y productivo del patrimonio agroindustrial rural cubano. En este contexto, el conjunto de ruinas del sistema de cafetales desarrollado por la inmigración francesa del siglo XIX en el territorio Gran Piedra al este de la
ciudad de Santiago de Cuba, presenta particularidades muy propias que lo distinguen dentro del patrimonio cubano cafetalero desarrollado en el siglo XIX, destacándose la caracterización tipológica del batey como respuesta de adecuación a la conformación de los terrenos montañosos. The Archaeological Landscape of the first plantations of the coffee of the southeast of Cuba, is the second that has Cuba in the cultural landscapes recognized in the list of the World Patrimony, when being considered that the remains of this plantation system represent the man’s combined works and the nature, besides
possessing exceptional values to constitute an authentic exponent of the constructive and productive chore of the Cuban rural agroindustrial patrimony. In this context, the set of ruins of the system of coffee farms developed by the French Immigration in the XIX century in the territory Gran Piedra(Great
Stone) to the east of Santiago de Cuba city, presents very own particularities that distinguish it among the coffee form patrimony in Cuba developed in the XIX century, standing out the architectural characterization of the batey like
adaptation answer to the conformation of the mountainous lands.
