ABSTRACT: Beam-column joints are considered critical zones under lateral wind and seismic loads. The creation of continuous precast beam-column joints with satisfactory performance results constitutes a great concern for engineers that design and construct precast concrete structures. This study presents a literature overview of studies that analyze and investigate the
behavior of continuous precast beam-column joints with the objective of revealing the need to employ these joints in tall frames structures. Examples of continuous precast beam-column joints used in Cuba are described, with an emphasis on relevant aspects of their conception,
behavior, and types of failures. Considerations about the influence of the continuous beam-column joint in the frame’s response to lateral loads are presented.
