ABSTRACT: As part of its extensive growth, Havana experienced in the 1950s a second boom of peripheral parcels, many of which became experimental polygons of residential architecture under the codes of the Modern Movement. Although they represent an important urban
area, these distributions have not been sufficiently studied, so their values are unknown, which raises their vulnerability to inappropriate actions that endanger their identity. This research aims to expose the origin
and evolution of the Casino Deportivo neighborhood, in the municipality of Cerro, from the identification of its urban and architectural characteristics, and is based on an analysis of documentary sources of archive
supplemented with field work. This study is aimed at the dissemination of part of modern heritage ignored by critics, and warns about imminent damage to their integrity and loss of their identity values.
