Keywords:
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have evolved notably in past decades, being currently valuables tools for studying territorial complexity. In this article, the presence of GIS in public instruction of Architecture and Urbanism in Spain is analyzed, through searching for them in teaching guides. It is also presented the students’ perspective about this topic, assessed using several questionnaires. It is possible to conclude from obtained data that, although GIS has interesting possibilities and is positively accepted by students, it is not enough contemplated in teaching. Considering this situation, it would be adequate to include GIS in compulsory subjects in the first part of the studies, in order to benefit from them in both the academic and professional periods.
