Interior design in social housing: a breakdown of preconceptions
ABSTRACT: This article approaches in a critical way the theme of the housing of social interest in Quito from the perspective of the Interior Architecture. It describes the current problems and presents an academic experience that adapted Rodolfo Livingston’s participatory design methodology, applied in 19 cases of housing of social interest of a set housing located to the north of Quito. This experience allowed the residents to express their needs and explore new possibilities of "living" with greater comfort. At the end of the study, there were learnings and questions that may lead to new research in the area, one of which is the possibility of approaching a profession, often appreciated as "elitist", with the lowest income sector of the population.
