Matahambre, implantación minera y paisaje cultural
Abstract
Se describen brevemente las etapas que han marcado la evolución histórica del
poblado de Matahambre, las características físicoespaciales que lo identifican y distinguen en el ontexto de la geografía cubana, con formas que singularizan un asentamiento que adaptándose a la abrupta topografía y recomponiendo la vegetación durante el proceso de urbanización, ha devenido en sitio extraordinariamente peculiar, con una arquitectura rústica que ha puesto su sello en un paisaje agreste. Finalmente se hace referencia a sus valores culturales, la memoria histórica que pervive en la actualidad, y los atributos que le confieren el
carácter de paisaje cultural.
