LA POÉTICA DE QUINTANA SIMONETTI EN LA TIERRA DEL SON
Abstract

In the architectonic production of this author in Santiago de Cuba city, it is clear
the pure mastering of space. His constructions open to all directions letting the
external space gets in the inner one, but when he opens his works to space, he
also does it to light, two important aspects solved with a single means.
We can find excellent examples of this in two works: The Theater Heredia in
Santiago de Cuba (1987-91) and The Hotel Las Brujas (1973) in Mayarí, old
province of Oriente, in this work the high technology expressive contents search
was proved. Quintana obtains in both cases a synthesis between prefabricated
structural technology, the natural setting dimension mastering and the cultural
components that define Cuban environmental identity, and consequently, two
groups scenically characterized by up to date technology image and the
predominance of the direct link between architecture and nature.
Key words: Antonio Quintana, architecture, theater, outside space, expresives
