Abstract

The approach of social inequality from the perspective of the urban mobility allows us to problematize and critically analyze the multidimensional, relational and dynamic character of this, characterized in access differentiated and unequal access to means and mechanisms within daily life, and therefore, goods, products and services, material and symbolic available within an urban society. This article explores the conditions of daily mobility and their reflection in urban life, taking the city of León as a reference. It analyzes the use of bicycles as a latent need caused by social inequality, considering that 30 % of its population uses this means of transport to carry out part of their basic journeys, mainly for work and school; being used mostly by popular sectors of the population.
