SANTIAGO DE CUBA UNA HISTORIA CONTADA POR SUS HITOS
Abstract
Los hitos, conceptualizados como estructuras físicas más o menos identificables, representan elementos de altos valores socioculturales y urbanoarquitectónicos
sin los cuales la orientación dentro de la ciudad histórica resultaría realmente difícil. Estos acentos paisajísticos están dotados de un alto nivel de aceptación que permite a los diversos grupos sociales atribuirles valores de identidad; son
por esta razón elementos referenciales y simbólicos. Su conocimiento es de vital importancia no solo para entender la morfología de la ciudad tradicional sino también para comprender la identidad inmanente a su imagen urbana y la
apropiación manifiesta de los habitantes hacia el sitio y su edilicia. Después de realizado el análisis gráfico-teórico de los hitos en el paisaje del Centro Histórico Urbano de Santiago de Cuba fueron identificados y revelados los principales valores de estos vitales componentes de la imagen citadina. A partir de una propuesta metodológica, de manera gráfica y teórica se logra una caracterización de los hitos urbanos en el Centro Histórico Urbano de Santiago de Cuba.

The milestones conceptualized like physical structures more or less identifiable, they represent elements of heights social, cultural, urban and architectonic values, and without them the orientation within the historic city would prove to be
really difficult. These scenic accents are gifted of high level of acceptance that permits to the various social groups to attribute them moral values of identity; they are referential and symbolic elements for this reason. His knowledge is vitally important not only to understand the morphology of the traditional city but also in order to understand immanent identity to its urban image and appropriation manifests of the inhabitants toward the place and his civic. The theoretic and graphic analysis of milestones at the landscape corresponding to the Historic Urban
Center of Santiago de Cuba reveals and identifies the principal values of the these vital components and them its characterization.
