Abstract

Villa Orduña, one of the oldest country houses in El Vedado, has a history linked to the city and personalities who played important roles in its development. Despite its exceptionality, its values are at risk, as a consequence of the lack of maintenance or of the constructive modifications that its residents may or may not make. The research aims to reinforce the patrimonial category of this building, derived from its age and its relevant architecture, with a view to its protection, by revealing historical aspects that contribute to the property intangible values that have not been considered, perhaps due to their ignorance. This article refers to the circumstances associated with the origin of the property, and presents the spatial qualities and architectural details of a relevant exponent of the villas of El Vedado, Havana, as elements to consider in the management of the property from the patrimonial point of view.
