GUÁIMARO, UN MUSEO TEMÁTICO EN EL VALLE DE LOS INGENIOS
Abstract
The action sugar colonizadora of more than 200 years in
the extensive Valley of the Geniuses, place declared
Patrimony of the Humanity, left a strong historicalcultural
print in the community that there resides. The
tangible and intangible patrimony conserved in this
territory, requires of actions them to allow him its
pervivencia like elements identitarios of its culture. In
the place proposed for the project of the “Museum
Guáimaro” archaeological elements of the old industry
are conserved, as well as constructions of exceptional
beauty and historical value: the house country property
and the ship warehouse, today in different phases of
rehabilitation works and preliminary studies for their
intervention. These actions constitute the starting point
for the design of an integral program of handling of the
place. The challenge of the current actions is to achieve
that through the creation of a museum, in interaction
with the residents, its culture and its aspirations, the
present values are not shown alone in the place, but
also those that are dispersed in the Valley.
