Incidence of Urban Mobility in the Unsustainable Growth of the City of Huancayo

The spontaneous and disorderly growth of Huancayo city in Peru, has been stimulated by the informal public transport, distributed in a dispersed and tangled way, with a tendency towards peripheral areas. Thus, the objective of this article is to analyzing how urban mobility constituted a factor that influenced the unsustainable growth of the urban surface of Huancayo city between 2007 and 2020. The descriptive-explanatory method allowed characterizing the increase in urban mobility, urban mobility and explain its impact on the growth of Huancayo city.
It is concluded that there is a relationship between the growth of urban mobility, the population increase in the periphery of the city and the unsustainable growth of the urbanized area of Huancayo city in the period studied, with an increase of 54% between 2007 and 2020, stimulated by motorized mobility as the main means of transportation.
