Abstract

Educando para un mundo sostenible a través de la responsabilidad social universitaria

RESUMEN: El Plan de Desarrollo Institucional de la Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) de México está orientado a formar profesionales con una amplia responsabilidad social, comprometidos con el desarrollo humano y el bienestar individual y colectivo. Se presenta un proyecto de investigación interdisciplinario como ejemplo de las acciones educativas desarrolladas por la BUAP para formar una comunidad universitaria participativa y responsable, que incluye propuestas de soluciones de diseño para mejorar el entorno a diferentes escalas. Se concluye que la sostenibilidad debe seguir siendo un eje transversal de los programas educativos de las universidades, y que resulta esencial formar y sensibilizar a docentes-investigadores sobre el desarrollo sostenible. Los autores recomendamos la creación de grupos interdisciplinarios que realicen propuestas de ciencia aplicada en el marco de la sostenibilidad. Se aspira a que la BUAP continúe siendo un ejemplo de institución pública socialmente responsable, comprometida con el desarrollo sostenible de Puebla y de la región Centro-Sur de México.

Educating for a Sustainable World across the University´s Social Responsibility

ABSTRACT: The Institutional Development Plan of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) in Mexico is aimed at training professionals with broad social responsibility, committed to human development and individual and collective well-being. An interdisciplinary research project is presented as an example of the educational actions developed by BUAP to form a participatory and responsible university community, which includes the proposal of design solutions to improve the environment at different scales. It is concluded that sustainability must continue to be a transversal axis of the educational programs of universities, and that it is essential to train and sensitize teacher-researchers about sustainable development. The authors recommend the creation of interdisciplinary groups that carry out applied science proposals within the framework of sustainability. It is hoped that BUAP continues to be an example of a socially responsible public institution, committed to the sustainable development of Puebla and the Central-South region of Mexico.
