Urban Matters in the Printed Press of the State of Veracruz. A Diagnosis through Content Analysis
RESUMEN. En este artículo, el Observatorio Urbano Universitario (OUU) en conjunto con el Observatorio de Medios de la Universidad Veracruzana (ObVio), presentan un estudio sobre las tendencias y temas urbanos abordados por la prensa de la región Veracruzana. El principal objetivo fue obtener los constructos sociales sobre temas de movilidad, crecimiento, inseguridad y agua (infraestrutura y eventos medioambientales) de cuatro ciudades (Xalapa, Poza Rica, Veracruz y Córdoba). A través de una metodología cualitativa, basada en la estrategia de análisis de contenido de cuatro periódicos del estado, se obtuvo como resultado un diagnóstico de amplio espectro sobre los problemas y dinámicas urbanas de ciudades importantes de Veracruz a lo largo de un año (2018) de monitoreo. De modo que se comprueba que el análisis de contenido de los medios de comunicación representa una herramienta y método útil para obtener un conocimiento amplio de los problemas urbanos, en tiempo y espacios determinados.

ABSTRACT. In this article, the Urban Observatory (OUU) together with the Media Observatory (ObVio), of the Universidad Veracruzana presents a study on urban trends and issues addressed by the press of the Veracruz region. The main objective was to obtain the social constructs on urban mobility, growth, insecurity, and water issues (infrastructure and environmental events) of four cities (Xalapa, Poza Rica, Veracruz and Córdoba) in Veracruz. Through a qualitative methodology, based on content analysis of four newspapers, this study resulted in a broad-spectrum diagnosis of urban problems and dynamics of important cities of Veracruz. In this way, the study shows that the content analysis of the media represents a useful tool and method to obtain a broad knowledge of the problems faced by cities.
