EL DOCTORADO EN ARQUITECTURA SE ACREDITA
Abstract
ResumenLa formación de doctores en la especialidad de
Arquitectura en Cuba comenzó a finales de la década
de los setenta y ha transitado por diversas
modalidades y etapas. En este trabajo se analiza
esa evolución y sus resultados, teniendo en cuenta
la cantidad de doctores defendidos y su edad, los
temas presentados en las tesis y las modalidades
empleadas en su formación. Se aborda el tradicional
conflicto reconocido a escala internacional entre la
investigación y la práctica profesional, ambas
necesarias en la formación del arquitecto. Por último,
se exponen las bases del nuevo Programa de
Doctorado Curricular Colaborativo en Arquitectura
que ha sido acreditado el pasado año 2009 y se
reflexiona sobre las perspectivas futuras de la
formación de doctores en este campo en Cuba.

Abstract
In Cuba, the training program for PhDs in the specialty
of Architecture began at the end of the 70s and it
has gone through various stages and approaches. The
present paper aims to analyze the evolution and results
of the former program, regarding the number of
Doctors, their age, the topics developed in their thesis
and the modalities used throughout their education.
Also, the internationally known traditional conflict
between research and professional practice, both
necessary for the architect's training, is tackled. Finally,
it is approved the basics for the new program for the
Architecture curricular doctorate in 2009, and it is
reflected on the future perspectives for the doctor's
training in the island.
