“Arquitectura extramuros”. Estrategias de desarrollo comunitario y diseño participativo en comunidades vulnerables en Guanajuato, México

RESUMEN: La “arquitectura extra-muros”, representa la serie de practicas sociales que desde el ámbito academico con el apoyo de profesores y estudiantes se realiza de manera voluntaria en apoyo al desarrollo de comunidades vulnerables. Dichas experiencias que van desde el trabajo comunitario hasta el diseño participativo se realizaron con el objetivo de buscar la integración de actores y redes sociales desde un enfoque endógeno comunitario; bajo la idea de que la producción social y sustentable del hábitat debe permitir a los individuos, las familias, las comunidades y las diferentes organizaciones sociales potencializar soluciones de desarrollo acordes con sus condiciones y aspiraciones. Los casos que se presentan se desarrollaron en Guanajuato, Mexico entre los años 2013 y 2018; con la finalidad de que el estudiante de arquitectura se integrara a una realidad social, y fuera capaz de asesorar y producir acciones y proyectos de intervención comunitaria para la mejora de sus condiciones de habitabilidad urbano-arquitectónica.

‘Extramuros Architecture’: Strategies for Community Development and Participatory Design in Vulnerable Communities in Guanajuato, Mexico
ABSTRACT: ‘Extramuros Architecture’ represents the series of social practices that spring from the academic environment, with the support of tutors and students, and are carried out on a voluntary basis in support of the development of vulnerable communities. These experiences range from community work to participatory design, and seek to achieve the integration of actors and social networks from an endogenous community perspective, based on the principle that a sustainable and social production of the habitat is one that empowers individuals, families, communities and various social organizations to promote solutions of development in line with their conditions and aspirations. The cases presented were developed in Guanajuato, Mexico, between 2013 and 2018, with the purpose of integrating architectural students in a social reality, and enabling them to advise and to produce actions and projects of community intervention for the improvement of its architectural and urban inhabitability.
