ABSTRACT: The article presents some reflections about
the academic exchange between doctoral programs in
Architecture developed by the Universidad Politécnica de
Madrid and the Universidad Tecnológica de La Habana,
Cujae, supported by the Iberoamerican University
Association for Postgraduate Studies. From literature
reviews and interviews, the context, antecedents,
academic and doctoral formation in the Madrid
Architecture Higher School were characterized, and then
compared to doctoral formation in Cuba, particularly in
Havana. Both institutions have evolved towards greater
research engagement. However, the Cuban models
draws more on collective work and challenging norms
and paradigms, as well as demanding the publication of
partial research findings.
