prefabricados.
ABSTRACT: The 1960s in Cuba was a time of rapid change and experimentation in urban planning and architecture. A number of landmarks of modern Cuban
architecture were built during this period. This article presents the results of a historical inquiry into the architecture of education in the 1960s in Cuba, based on a review of primary sources, especially interviews with architects involved in this particular task. The results demonstrate that Cuban education architecture of the 1960s reflects the political and social principles of the Cuban Revolution’s new architecture, the variety and creativity achieved during those years, and the ways in which traditional materials and techniques were progressively replaced by prefabrication.
