RESUMEN
ABSTRACT
: The political changes produced since the 1970s, based on a neoliberal framework, have significantly transformed the way cities are constructed. In this context, urban planning becomes a form of commodification and stability of the hegemonic classes and more concretely the public space, a spatial anchor of reproduction of capital with different nuances according to the geography of the place. In this context, the present work tries to analyze the process of implementation of this type of "policies" in the city of Cuernavaca from the "program of embellishment of the urban image", as well as the nuances and socio-spatial paradigms that this has generated, in a comparative perspective between public space, politics and citizens. We concluded that this type of interventions are a form of legitimation and social control, which only increases the social fragmentation.
