Abstract:

A comparative research on the styles of architecture in the city of Ibagué (Colombia) during the years 1893 and 1945 drives to elaborate a conceptual and material system to understand the aesthetic development of the local architecture. There are multiple interactions between the aesthetic styles or codes of three dominant architectural currents: the historicist, the decorative avant-garde and the avant-garde industrialist. A graphic model of stylistic and conceptual development comes from these relationships, located at the end of the article, which allows the understanding of the contents of the architecture of the studied period and the proposed conceptual shift between the avant-gardes and historicism. The conceptual contents exemplified to facilitate the understanding of this classification in correspondence with the local examples named.

Se presentan los resultados de una investigación comparativa sobre los estilos de la arquitectura en la ciudad de Ibagué, Colombia, entre los años 1893 y 1945, a partir de lo cual se elaboró un sistema conceptual y material para comprender el desarrollo estético de la arquitectura local. Se descubrieron múltiples interacciones entre los estilos o códigos estéticos de tres corrientes arquitectónicas dominantes: la historicista, la vanguardista decorativa y la vanguardista industrial. A partir de estas relaciones se elaboró un modelo gráfico de desarrollo estilístico y conceptual, localizado al final del artículo, el cual permite comprender los contenidos de la arquitectura del periodo estudiado y el giro conceptual propuesto entre las vanguardias y el historicismo. Se ejemplifican fotográficamente los contenidos conceptuales para facilitar la comprensión de esta clasificación en correspondencia con los ejemplos locales nombrados.
