RESUMEN: El desarrollo del turismo como actividad
económica reúne numerosas experiencias alrededor
del mundo. Constituye un hecho social irreversible,
internacionalmente tiene un efecto directo en la
economía de los países. En Cuba, la expansión y la
diversificación del turismo durante las dos últimas
décadas, le ha conferido una importancia cada vez
mayor porque contribuye al desarrollo económico. En
correspondencia con estos elementos, el objetivo del
trabajo es presentar reflexiones sobre el ordenamiento
y desarrollo del turismo en cayo Santa María, su
evolución en el tiempo, sus criterios de partida, los
diversos ajustes de los planes y su estado actual, así
como indicar valoraciones sobre la sustentabilidad del
desarrollo del turismo en este contexto e impactos
ambientales. Se muestran figuras correspondientes
a cada Plan de Ordenamiento y sus actualizaciones,
así como otras que facilitan comprender el proceso
de desarrollo turístico en este ecosistema frágil de la
Cayería Noreste de Villa Clara, Cuba.
Planning and development of tourism in Cayo Santa Maria in Villa Clara
ABSTRACT: The development of tourism as economic
activity gathers numerous world experiences around the
world and is an irreversible social fact internationally,
with a direct effect on the economy of countries. The
expansion and diversification of tourism in Cuba over the
past two decades has been rising because it contributes
to economic development. The aim of this work is to
present reflections on the planning and development
of tourism in Cayo Santa Maria, its evolution over time,
their initial criteria, the various settings plans and their
current status, specifying ratings on the sustainability
of development tourism in this context. In the article
we show images for each Management Plan and its
updates, as well as other graphic information to facilitate
understanding of the process of tourism development
in this fragile ecosystem of the Northeast cays of Villa
Clara, Cuba.
