Estudio para la localización de un museo de arte contemporáneo en La Habana
Abstract
Resumen: El artículo analiza las posibles locaciones de un museo de arte contemporáneo en La Habana. El método empleado en la investigación incluyó la definición de las tendencias de desarrollo de la ciudad, la definición de requerimientos para la localización y el emplazamiento de un museo a partir de fuentes documentales, la validación de dichos resultados a partir del estudio de 80 ejemplos internacionales, la exploración preliminar de posibles zonas y terrenos para la inserción de un museo, el estudio de macro-localización y de micro-localización de las zonas y terrenos a partir de la comparación del comportamiento de las variables definidas, y la comprobación y validación de los resultados a partir de entrevistas con especialistas. El estudio demostró que la desembocadura del río Almendares y principios de Línea, es la zona más conveniente en cuanto a los requerimientos urbanos y las necesidades de la institución. Las autoras consideran que ante nuevas circunstancias y necesidades, tanto de la ciudad como de la institución, los resultados podrían ser diferentes, aunque la metodología podría seguir siendo válida.

Abstract: The article discusses the possible locations of a contemporary art museum in Havana. The method used in the research included the definition of development trends in the city; the definition of requirements for the location and the site of a museum from documentary sources; validation of these results from the study of 80 international examples; preliminary exploration of possible areas and lots for the insertion of a museum; the study of macro-and micro-location and land areas from the comparison of the behavior of the variables defined previously, and validation of results from interviews with specialists. The study showed that the mouth of the Almendares River and Línea Street is the most convenient in terms of urban requirements and needs of the institution. The authors believe that facing new circumstances and needs of both, the city and the institution, the results might be different, although the methodology could still be valid.
