El monumento de Playa Girón. Fábio Penteado y la arquitectura como ejercicio de la libertad
Abstract
Resumen: Este artículo pretende
establecer los vínculos histórico-culturales
que influyen en la arquitectura moderna
brasileña y, consecuentemente, en la
prolífera obra del arquitecto brasileño
Fábio Moura Penteado. Se describen
varias obras que identifican el quehacer
de este arquitecto y se presenta y analiza
en detalle el proyecto del monumento de
Playa Girón para el concurso internacional
de 1962 como ejemplar de la idea
general que guió toda su producción
arquitectónica. Concentrándose en los
aspectos formativos y expresivos propios
de esta obra, que definen una escultura
de gran potencial comunicativo, el texto
pone el énfasis en el resultado material
final como consecuencia de los ideales
arquitectónicos y sociales del arquitecto.

Abstract: This article seeks to establish
historical and cultural ties that influence
Brazilian modern architecture and,
consequently, the prolific work of
Brazilian architect Fábio Moura Penteado.
It describes several projects that identify
the work of this architect and presents
and analyzes in detail the project to
the Bay of Pigs Monument, did to the
international competition of 1962 as an
example of the general idea that guided
all his architectural production. Focusing
on formative and expressive aspects of
this work, which define a sculpture of
great communicative potential, the text
emphasizes the final material product as a
result of architectural and social ideals of
the architect.
