EL CENTRO HISTÓRICO ¿CONCEPTO O CRITERIO EN DESARROLLO?
Abstract
Se aborda el desarrollo de las expresiones que han definido el urbanismo histórico y su cualidad de monumento y en particular la definición Centro Histórico –la más usada internacionalmente hasta hoy–, atendiendo a las categorías relacionadas directamente con dicha expresión: el espacio, la función y el tiempo, relacionadas con su carácter de centro y a su carácter histórico-temporal; vinculados en su condición de patrimonio cultural y como marco de referencia cultural
base de una sociedad, que incluye artes, ciencias, sistemas de producción, estilos de vida, sistemas de valores, tradiciones. Se analizan en secuencia cronológica los aportes de una selección de eventos y documentos, algunos de carácter doctrinal y otros acordados en ámbitos de concertación internacional relacionados con el tema.

Abstract
It is treated the development of the expressions that have defined the historical urbanism and its quality of monument and in particular the definition of historical
center –the most used in the world today-, attended to the categories directly related with that expression: the space, the function and the time, related to its character of center and its historical-temporal character; united in its condition of cultural heritage and as frame of cultural reference base of a society, that includes arts, sciences, systems of production, lifestyles, value’s systems, traditions. It is analyzed in chronologic sequence the contributions of a selection of success and documents, some of doctrinal character and others agreed in ambits of international arrangement related with the subject.
