POR LA IMAGEN SOÑADA DEL ANILLO: UNA GUÍA PARA SU EVALUACIÓN Y DIAGNÓSTICO
Abstract
Santiago de Cuba, ciudad fundada en 1515, desarrolla y consolida su trama urbana de manera ilimitada hasta fines del siglo XIX. Desde entonces queda definido como límite fundacional un sistema de espacios públicos que a modo de
anillo circunvala lo que es hoy la ciudad histórica. La confluencia de valores, tejidos urbanos y expresiones arquitectónicas de sectores diversos, le confiere singularidad a este espacio de vínculo entre el centro tradicional y las
ampliaciones de la traza que en conjunto forman la ciudad toda. La problemática que describe el anillo infiere la necesidad de un proceso de intervención en el área, en aras de revitalizar el tejido urbano existente. Por ello, como
aspecto concluyente de este artículo, se muestra una guía enfocada a partir del análisis de la panorámica internacional, que resume los aspectos necesarios para evaluar y diagnosticar el funcionamiento y la imagen del anillo circunvalante del Centro Histórico de la ciudad santiaguera.

Abstract:
Santiago de Cuba a city founded in 1515, developed and consolidated its urban layout in an unlimited way till late of XIX century. From that time were defined as foundational limits a public space system in a ring-shape surrounds that
are at the present the historical city center. The influence of values, the urban fabric and architectural expressions of diverse sectors confer singularity to the linking space between the traditional center and the sprawl of the new
urban fabric that together shape the whole city. The problematic described by the circumvallating ring infers the need of an intervention process in the study area, in
order to revitalized the existing urban fabric. For this reason as final aspect of this article, a guide focused on the analysis of the international panoramic is shown. At the same time, it summarized the needed aspects to evaluate and to diagnose
the performance and the image of the circumvallating ring of the historical urban center of Santiago de Cuba city.
