Abstract

Resumen
Se analiza el urbanismo de la ciudad de Matanzas desde su
fundación hasta el año 1800, periodo durante el cual se organiza
la urbe y se desar rollan las condiciones para la futura
transformación citadina. Se estudia su trazado, estructura y la
variación de su paisaje, a fin de presentar un primer acercamiento
a esta temática compleja que facilite conocer el acontecer de la
Atenas de Cuba durante estos años.

Abstract
This article deals with the planning of the city of Matanzas from
its founding until 1800, a period where the city is organized and
the conditions for the future urban transformation are developed.
An analysis of its structure, its layout as well as its landscape
variation is done in order to present a first approach to this
complex subject that helps to understand the main events of
the "Athens of Cuba" during these years.
