Félix Antonio Muñoz Cusiné y su trascendencia dentro de la arquitectura moderna de Santiago de Cuba

RESUMEN: En el contexto cubano, son muchos los arquitectos que han dejado una huella indeleble en el patrimonio nacional y local. En este sentido, se destaca el arquitecto santiaguero Félix Antonio Muñoz
Cusiné, con una prolífera producción arquitectónica que alcanza su mayor realización dentro de la arquitectura moderna. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo caracterizar el repertorio de este autor y develar
las regularidades de su obra. El análisis se realizó a partir de tres variables: el emplazamiento urbano y la relación con el contexto inmediato; la solución espacioambiental y la solución formal. El trabajo se apoyó en la revisión de fuentes documentales de archivo y en
estudios precedentes sobre el tema; la observación de la realidad y la consulta a especialistas. Los resultados obtenidos a partir del procedimiento metodológico empleado condujeron a determinar las regularidades de la arquitectura moderna de Félix Antonio Muñoz
Cusiné, y su impronta en la urbe santiaguera.
ABSTRACT: Many architects have left an important legacy on the national and local patrimony of Cuba. Félix Antonio Muñoz Cusiné, had a prolific architectural production, which reaches its peak during the modernist period. This study aims at a characterizing this architect’s
legacy, and at identifying the regularities of his work. The analysis was based on three variables: urban placing and relation to the surrounding architecture, the spatial-environmental solution, and the formal solution.
The work is supported by archival documentary sources and previous studies, by direct observation, and by consultation with specialists. The results obtained through the methodological procedure employed led to
a systematization of the modern architecture of Félix Antonio Muñoz Cusiné, and his imprint in the urban matrix of Santiago de Cuba.
