Aso Rock Restaurant And Lounge
por Lazaro Fairweather (2018-09-24)
I really enjoy Nigerian food. I work at DFW Airport with many Nigerians and they recommended Aso Rock. I came at 2pm on a Thursday. I ordered Egusi Soup, Jollof Rice with Goat and Plantain and my friend ordered Bitter Leaf Soup. The service was very fast and the waitress very friendly. The food tasted very authentic. They didn't have a bar though and a beer would have hit the spot. Also I couldn't really tell if the place was a nightclub or a restaurant. The ambiance was a little strange. Regardless, I was impressed and would def come back. If you want a unique experience go check out Aso Rock. It's a Nigerian restaurant, bar, lounge, disco club all in one, in a retail strip off Skillman and 635. I visited on a Thursday evening around 8p and took a seat at one of the many open tables.
At the bar, there were groups of people hanging out. This place is authentic. How did I know? Because I was the only non-Nigerian in there. Luckily my friend is Nigerian and also a regular, and was able to tell me what to order. Knowing that I eat spicy food, he recommended the goat pepper soup and jollof rice dish. Soup was spicy but it was a slow heat. Not sure what cuts of meat were in there and I didn't care to know. There's nothing I won't try once. Jollof rice was also good. It's kind of like Mexican rice but better flavor and spicy.
Everything was tasty. Give Aso Rock a try. If the food isn't exciting enough for you, this place turns into a dance club at 10:00 p.m. Where else can you go for that? Went for dinner tonight and the service was poor. The waitress was generally nice but they took forever! The appetizers actually came out after our meal. The egusi soup and moi moi were pretty good, good flavor but the goat platter was not very good. The stew had very little seasoning and the goat was overcooked. 3 as listed on the menu. When I asked to speak to the manager she explained that they've been meaning to change the menu and the waitress should have told us the prices were wrong. She then literally said that she always tells her customers to ask what the price is before they order. I don't have any intention of returning.
I walk in and the first thing I notice is the smell of weed. No problems with smoking, I wish it was legal, but that just seems a bit unprofessional. Snoop and Dre were playing so load that I couldn't hear the waitress speaking when she finally greeted me. There was no hostess, so I just walked up to the buffet to look at the food. They had plastic forks and paper plates out. That's when I should have left because I have never been more sure that at some point today, I am going to shit my pants. The waitress then got up from the table she was sitting at and greeted me.
She realized they were almost out so she went and got more paper plates. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! If I could give this movie 0 stars, I would. This place is horrible. I went here for dinner and many of the tables were extremely dirty even though customers had left. Their floors were also dirty, covered with napkins and old pieces of food. They didn't have a lot of things on the menu. And the waitress actually thought it was funny and ok saying that they usually run out of food on because of the weekend. Then prepare for Monday. Is that so hard! Soup, they don't have.
Chicken, they don't have. Plantain, the don't have. But you call yourself a Naija restaurant. And then on top of that, the waitress had an attitude. I am NEVER coming back to this place again. I don't understand why our people just can't get their businesses together. Don't no go there unless you're prepare to waste your time. Not sure why this place has 2 measly stars! Almost made me not go, glad I went anyway. Great ambiance, bomb ass food, great service also. I was short on time and only ordered Suya to go but the Suya was the best! Well seasoned, spicy, and tasty!
There's also set up for a live band (assuming that's weekend nights). I'll be back every time I come to Dallas! 50 during take out because they will charge you gratuity even if you are not eating in. They over charge you for the small portions that you'll get larger in other restaurants. There are other restaurants in the area that would give you better service and better food. The service is as terrible as others have written about! Generally I don't have crazy high expectations in customer service at African restaurants BUT given that we are in Dallas I figured it'd be better than Nigeria.
Service is slow/non-existent. The men's restaurant was atrocious. And the place wasn't very well kept. Litter around etc. In fact there was some type of inspection going on while we were there. The food was so so. We even went back a second day for more Star beer while in town and it was the same! I have nothing positive to say about my experience here. EVERYTIME i go, they never have what i want.. The service is awful as well. Found a better spot.. Everyone head to murphy's lounge.. The food and service is so much better! No need to deal with horrible service ..
Absolutely the worst service I've ever had. The young bratty server at the bar tells me I've read the menu incorrectly and the tilapia only comes with one side. Clearly the menu says plantains and choice of rice or fries. As she snaps at me that I'm wrong I point out the language on the menu. Not registering with her and she proceeds to tell me to "forget what the menu says." So we order an appetizer - you know that food that comes out BEFORE your meal. Yea no my boyfriend gets his dinner before the app. I have yet to see my food. Then after asking three times and being told no manager is on duty I get told I need to have patience?
Are you out of your mind. 15 minutes later after my boyfriend has finished his dinner my food arrives. Worst dining experience ever! One star because the food is actually very good. That young lady needs to be terminated. I was visiting Dallas from the midwest and I really wanted to eat at a nigerian restaurant. Unfortunately, this was probably the worst service I've ever experienced! Aso Rock Lounge is a neighborhood Nigerian restaurant and bar that also plays music and has sports on all the surrounding televisions. The food was Amazing! It's by far the best African food that I have ever had in life.
13 per person. I ordered the mackerel and rice and MoiMoi (a bean casserole) my dining companions had goat and grilled chicken. I tried everything and it was all delicious. The service was good even though the food came out slow. I definitely recommend this place to everyone who wants to try some authentic African food. Typical African Resturants, Vibrant atmosphere, a little wait on the food but that's okay cos the food is prepared fresh. I ordered Jollof Rice, Plantain and Beef. They all tasted delicious but I must say that I am disappointed with the sizing portion of the food. Just 2 pieces of meat ?

A Peoples Democratic Party aspirant for the September governorship election in Osun State, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, says he has no link to President Muhammadu Buhari or the All Progressives Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu. Ogunbiyi dismissed the insinuation on the grounds that Buhari and Tinubu belong to a political platform different from his own. He added, "Since the political neophyte story failed to fly, the mischief-makers invented the Buhari/Tinubu sponsorship tale. Meanwhile, my choice of the PDP as a platform to actualise my dream is informed by my perception of it as the best party and a viable vehicle to deepen democracy in Nigeria. So it is inconceivable for anyone to imagine that I would work against the party which success story I have been part of.

Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State, on Sunday, attributed the success, prosperity and developmental strides made by his administration in the last three years to God. Ambode made this remark at a thanksgiving service held at the Lagos House, Alausa, to commemorate his third year anniversary in office with the theme, "Praise His Majesty". He expressed optimism that the success recorded would further sustain the state in years to come. He said: "This day is significant in the history of the state. It is also to celebrate the prosperity the state is known for. "On May 29, we will be three years on the stable of this task and there is no way we would have found ourselves with this level of progress without some supernatural hands. "With this, I give thanks to God.
It is not possible to put up a plan and it works out; you should know that there is a source making it to work, God. "It has not been easy with the complexity of managing 24 million people; there is something driving it, and in all situations, we are grateful to God. On his promise to residents in the next one year, Ambode noted that his administration would continue to render more services as it had done in the last three years. He said: "For me, the last three years have been very eventful and fruitful; you can see remarkable progress going on in the length and breadth of Lagos.
The governor, who said that the thanksgiving coincided with the 51st anniversary of the state and the children’s day, added that it was more or less a double celebration for him. In his exhortation, entitled, "God’s Unstoppable Promise," Pastor Paul Adefarasin of the House on the Rock Church, noted that God was ever faithful to his promises, because "He was no man". Adefarasin, while praying for the state, said that the promises of God for the state, the government and its people would come to pass. On the sidelines of the event, Prof. Pat Utomi, an economist, said that the hands of God had clearly been visible in the state as it had enjoyed peace, tranquility and economic growth. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that prayers were offered for the state, the governor and his family as well as residents of the state. NAN reports that the event was attended by notable Nigerians, government functionaries and members of the political class.
The governor said his prediction that President Muhammadu Buhari would go after and consume those who imposed him on Nigerians has come to pass. He said that apart from Obasanjo, others who made Buhari president would still be humiliated. Fayose said: "The president can go ahead and arrest Obasanjo, if he desires. But he should remember that what goes around comes around. He won’t be president forever too. In a statement, yesterday, by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said: "When other Nigerians were at the receiving end of President Buhari’s dictatorship, Obasanjo was going in and out of the Presidential Villa.
