LocalBlox Explores Uncharted Territory... Your Own Backyard!
Ned Ludd and the 19th century band of "luddites" waged war contrary to the fragmenting force of industrialization. Today's technology haters repeat the familiar refrain. Until recently, their claim had not been without merit. Then along came social network, connecting friends-of-friends, distant relatives and even perfect strangers.So, what's the latest thing? The web's final frontier just might be your personal back yard. Enter LocalBlox, a burgeoning new site made to connect you with the people in your area � those folks you pass each day on your journey to a nearby park or caf�.LocalBlox may be the brainchild of Sabira Arefin, who envisioned a virtual space where neighbors could connect and share information about their own, real-world communities. "I thought it might be nice to have a Facebook for neighbors," says Arefin, "You can share info on the latest happenings, or simply ping them and say hello. Who has enough time to knock on doors currently?"LocalBlox seeks to construct a bridge between individuals as well as their communities with listings for events, news feeds, a photograph album ready to accept all along with a community wall for informal discussion and recommendations. The Localblox ambassador program invites residents who will be passionate about their neighborhood being volunteers and guide their neighbors of their search in order to connect. In the very close to future, LocalBlox intends to hire neighborhood managers in over 40,000 communities over the United States.Engaging a persons vision and commitment of both residents and local merchants is often a fundamental section of Arefin's vision. In an effort to help local businesses and expand this first ever hybrid in the virtual-natural community, LocalBlox is offering free advertising to small business owners for any little while. "LocalBlox was founded about the premise that physical communities are the most basic and organic," says Arefin.
