Resumen

Las arquitecturas vernáculas, las transculturadas y las reelaboraciones
contemporáneas de tipologías históricas en América Latina y el Caribe, muy
frecuentemente dan cuenta de significativas adaptaciones al sitio, a los modos
particulares de habitar y al clima. Estas persistentes tipologías estructurales,
formales y funcionales, conservando una asombrosa vigencia, han generado una
verdadera escuela regional, donde coexisten el saber popular y el profesional. En este trabajo, desde una perpectiva actual y un pensamiento americano, se propone fundar una hermenéutica de la arquitectura y el diseño propios, a partir de nuestra historia y nuestro proyecto cultural, en un fuerte compromiso con el ámbito, el paisaje, los materiales, los recursos naturales, el clima, las tradiciones e innovaciones tecnológicas y los particulares modos de habitar.

Abstract

Frequently, Vernacular architecture, transcultural architecture and contemporary
remaking architecture from historical typologies in Latin America and the Caribbean
show significant adaptations to the site, to the habitat, and to the weather. These
persistent structural typologies which are formal and functional preserve their amazing force that has produced a truly regional school where the popular and professional knowledge stand together. In short, from today's view and from an American thought, it is necessary to found the hermeneutic of architecture and its own design, the building up of a theory and an aesthetic from our own history and our own cultural heritage as a strong commitment with the landscape, materials, natural resources, climate, technological innovations and traditions and
the habitat.
